From Clinton Thornton-Casanova: My work consist of a flux between enviromental and studio portraiture and astrophotography. I mostly work out of a studio close to where I live in Horgen Switzerland. When the night falls on a perfectly dark moonless night I setup my telescope and cameras to capture very old and faint light from thousands sometimes millions of light years away. This part of my art takes much dedication and patience. Some projects takes years to complete adding data each season. I am at the mercy of the weather and the elements of seasons. I use both digital and film for my day and astrophotography work. Using film for astrophotography is a challenge I get the same results with a digital camera in 3 minutes but with film it takes over an hour; but this is art.
Third Thursdays is a monthly artist talk from the JKC Gallery. It is curated and moderated by artists, Heather Palacek and Habiyb Shu’Aib, and hosted by Michael Chovan-Dalton, Director of the JKC Gallery. The talks were started by Palacek and Shu’Aib as a platform for local artists to showcase their work to the Trenton and larger regional community and quickly reached an audience from New York to Philadelphia. This season our hybrid shows have regional and international artists.
