Language Acquisition is an exploration of gesture, symbolism, intuitive mark-making, and written language through the medium of chemigrams. Created without a camera or negatives, chemigrams are made by exposing silver gelatin photo paper to light and traditional darkroom chemistry. The variety and possibility for color, texture, value, shape, and line is nearly infinite, creating a state of mystery that mirrors my investigations into the ambiguity, and sometimes failure, of verbal communication. I use gesture to invent my own vocabulary, and also deconstruct letterforms to embed the power of words into abstracted photographic collages and sculptures.

Rich Hundley
Rich Hundley is a photojournalist in Trenton NJ. He’s covered protests and politics throughout 2020 which he will briefly share and then he will focus on presenting his aerial landscape and drone photography.
Third Thursdays is a monthly artist talk from the JKC Gallery. This season’s shows will all be virtual. It is curated and moderated by artists, Heather Palacek and Habiyb Shu’Aib, and hosted by Michael Chovan-Dalton, Director of the JKC Gallery. The talks were started by Palacek and Shu’Aib as a platform for local artists to showcase their work to the Trenton and larger regional community and quickly reached an audience from New York to Philadelphia. This season our virtual shows will have regional artists and artists from across the country and our audience reach has now gone global.
