Masked and Creating: Open Call for Current and Former MCCC Students

The Fall Semester Show – Masked and Creating

The JKC Gallery invites current and former MCCC students from any of the visual, performing, and literary arts to submit work for an ongoing virtual show to be featured on the JKC Gallery social media accounts, YouTube Channel (for video and audio), and this website.

The gallery is interested in work you have made during the pandemic that shows your response to our new normal as expressed through your creative practice. That expression can be documentary in nature or conceptually made in the work itself. The work does not have to be of the pandemic. You can just tell us in your statement how your practice has changed.

We will accept submissions through the end of November and the show will end on January 1st, 2021.

2D Art and Photography

Images must be 2000 pixels on the long dimension and saved as a high quality jpeg.

Up to 3 pieces may be submitted. (Pixels per Inch does not matter when you resize using pixels as your unit of dimensions.)

Video: (Art and Performance)

Video work must be no more than 1080 HD and no less than 720 HD. 20 Minutes is the maximum amount of time allowed.

Literary Works: (Written or Recorded)

Written and recorded pieces can be in any short-form literary genre. Written pieces should be sent as a pdf file, limit to 1,000 words, and recorded pieces should be sent as an mp3 file, no longer than 20 minutes in length.

Statement

Please include a short statement about you, the work, and how the work is connected to the pandemic. Your statement will be published with your work on the gallery website and social media accounts.

Works will be reviewed for their quality and relevance to the show. Not all work will be accepted into the show.

There is no fee for this show, nor is there a prize or a special selection in this show.

Submissions are being accepted from now through the end of November.

To submit your work for review and possible inclusion in this show, please send your piece(s) to jkcg.mccc@gmail.com, with the subject line, “Masked and Creating”, along with your statement. Video files should be shared to the same email address for the gallery from a shared folder (dropbox, google drive, etc.) or sent from a download service such as WeTransfer. Include your Instagram handle if you would liked to be tagged in the post.
